Texas Fertility, P.A.

Insurance & Costs
When patients ask "How much?" they usually are referring to how much they have to pay. This is dependent upon each person's insurance. Determination of insurance coverage for infertility is a very confusing ordeal, even for many insurance companies. Therefore, if you call insurance companies, they will often tell you there is no coverage just to make it simple (for them). This may be the case, but often it is not.

For this reason, we have an insurance specialist who will work with you to uncover every penny you are entitled to. Additionally, we will file your insurance for you, once you have met your co-pay and deductible.

Texas Fertility accepts most insurance policies and participates with many major local HMO's and PPO's. Please contact our insurance specialist at. (972) 394-9590.  Our patients who have insurance with a company with which we do not contract use their out of network benefits.  Because it costs us less time and effort to treat patients who do not have insurance coverage, or use out of network benefits, we have lower fees for self pay patients.

There are two types of therapy that are frequently not covered. They are Artificial Insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization (IVF). Even if IUI and IVF are not covered, sometimes the medications and processes leading up to IUI and IVF are covered. Assuming your insurance excludes these two types of therapy, here are some cost expectations:

Cost of Ovulation Induction (no insurance) with Artificial Insemination:

The estimated average cost of ovulation induction is $2000 to $2500. This covers office visits, injection training, baseline FSH test, and estrogen and ultrasound monitoring throughout the cycle. It also includes medication purchased from a pharmacy. A major cost of each cycle is medication. We strongly recommend you shop around for the best price. Costs can vary tremendously, even for the same medication.  We do refer our patients to a pharmacy, which is very competitive in their pricing, has been extremely helpful to my patients, and they deliver the medications and supplies.

Cost of IVF (no insurance):

The estimated average cost of IVF is $10,000 to $12,000.  This estimate is for the TOTAL cost of an IVF cycle.  It includes medications (purchased from a pharmacy), monitoring the response of ovaries, all hospital and embryo lab charges, anesthesiologist’s fee and my fee for both egg retrieval and embryo transfer.  For certain additional procedures, there are extra charges, but we discuss the “add-ons” before we start.  The estimated cost includes the pharmacy, the hospital and embryo lab, the anesthesiologist, and all my fees.
